Do you know who he is or what he wrote? If you do, great, if you do not, then I am sorry that you have not tried him but in the times of the Beat Generation, he was and continues to be considered a phenomonon amongst American authors. One does not need to be a Hawthorne, Twain or Higgens Clark, to be considered famous. Try expanding your horizons and if you do not want to come across as a dolt, at least read the Book Review or RD Condensed Versions b4 you comment on who is and who is not, famous.
